Hive Systems expands marketing and media outreach through new vice president appointments

Communication team brings more than 20 years of experience

RICHMOND, Va. – In a continuing effort to expand its reach, Hive Systems announced the appointments of Rachel Burbank, vice president for branding, and David Oglethorpe, vice president for media relations. Burbank and Oglethorpe bring more than 20 years of combined experience in the communication field.

“We’re thrilled about these additions to our team,” said President and CEO, Alex Nette. “Rachel and David have done exceptional work in the past with our organization and we’re excited for them to join us in a formal capacity.”

Burbank currently helps government organizations transform their website into a simple, smart and digital experience. She previously managed the website for a local city government in Colorado and was focused on finding digital solutions for the marketing department. Other prior experience includes media relations for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer and project administration for the U.S. Soccer Federation’s USA Bid Committee vying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Burbank graduated from Stetson University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in International Business.

Oglethorpe currently oversees the operations of the Student Union at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He oversaw the communication efforts for three different departments at UCF with a heavy focus on media relations and outreach. He began his career in collegiate athletics overseeing media relations for Jacksonville University’s athletics department, including the NCAA Men’s Basketball March Madness first and second rounds. Oglethorpe earned his doctorate and master’s degrees from UCF in educational leadership and his bachelor’s degree in strategic communication from The Ohio State University.
